Removable Braces
Removable braces, also known as Invisalign, are a type of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners to straighten and align the teeth. The aligners are made of a clear, medical-grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn. They are worn for about 22 hours a day and replaced every two weeks with a new set of aligners that will continue to move the teeth into the desired position.
The process of removable braces (Invisalign) typically involves the following steps:
- Initial Consultation: The orthodontist will examine your teeth and take X-rays to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. They will also discuss your treatment options and explain the process to you.
- Impressions And Digital Scans: The orthodontist will take impressions or digital scans of your teeth to create a detailed map of your dental structure.
- Treatment Planning: Your orthodontist will use the digital scans to create a customized treatment plan that will map out the movement of your teeth throughout the course of your treatment.
- Fabrication Of Aligners: Using the treatment plan, a series of custom-made aligners will be created for you.
- Wearing The Aligners: You will wear the aligners for about 22 hours a day, only taking them out for eating, brushing, and flossing. You will replace them every two weeks with a new set of aligners that will continue to move your teeth into the desired position.
- Progress Check-Ups: Your orthodontist will schedule regular check-ups to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
- Retention: After the treatment is completed, your orthodontist will give you a retainer to wear to help keep your teeth in their new position.
- Follow-Up Visits: The orthodontist will schedule regular follow-up visits to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments.
The entire process can take several months to complete, depending on the healing time required. It’s important to note that the success of dental implants depends on factors such as the patient’s overall health and the quality of the bone in the jaw.
